Joel Goldstein answered on 13 Dec 2023:
The LHC itself will probably run until about 2040. By then, CERN will probably have a new international-scale project under preparation – perhaps an even Larger Hadron Collider, perhaps something else.
If you are asking when particle physics as a whole will be “complete”, the answer is we don’t know. Maybe every time we understand new layer to Nature’s secrets there is yet another layer underneath to discover. Or maybe we will find a single theory that describes the entire Universe, but when that will be we cannot guess. And even if we do, there will be plenty of work to fill in gaps or try applying our theory to new situations.
