I am a physicist and work on particle accelerators (machines that force tiny particles to move close to the speed of light). Particle accelerators are used in airport scanners, medical devices e.g. cancer therapy, and for exploring the early stages of the universe. I am lucky enough to have worked on the largest particle accelerator in the world, the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN!

My Work:
My PhD project at CERN involves simulating how particles behave in the accelerators (like the SPS or the LHC) under specific conditions. I am looking into how we can create and use these – along with other cool things like using silicon crystals to bend particles – to deliver better beams to fixed target experiments.
