Spring back in to the CERN Zone
We have a couple of live Chats with the CERN scientists planned, a new Quiz, and more to come this term!
We’d also like you to take a few minutes, to let us know what you think about taking part in CERN.
We have a couple of live Chats with the CERN scientists planned, a new Quiz, and more to come this term!
We’d also like you to take a few minutes, to let us know what you think about taking part in CERN.
Join the Chat on Tuesday 23 April, and get to know how the scientists at CERN, stay safe.
Between 12.30pm and 1.30pm, come along to meet the scientists working at CERN, and find out why their safety handbook involves more than wearing a hard hat!
Last Tuesday, on Tuesday 27 February the ISOLDE facility at CERN opened their doors to students and schools taking part. Liam, Patrick and Chetna and other members of the ISOLDE team, gave us a private tour their facility to share more about their work.
Liam gave us an introduction to the facility and an overview of ISOLDE and what the team work on.
Patrick and Chetna (on gimbal) then gave us a tour of the facility, starting with the magnets.
Tomorrow, you can go behind the doors of CERN with a live tour of the ISOLDE facility.
This is an exclusive chance to take a look at the facility of the team who is producing a large variety of radioactivity ion beams.
You’ll get a view of the parts of the facility that can’t be accessed by members of the public!
📅Next Chat: Tuesday 27 February 12.30pm to 1.30pm 📅

On Tuesday 16 January, 26 students dropped into the live Chat to meet the scientists working on CERN research projects! Thanks to the scientists from LHCb, ISOLDE and Beam Team who came along.
Take a look at a few of our favourite moments
Drop-in to the Chat across the hour to meet the scientists working at CERN. Ask them questions about themselves, their work or their life at CERN.
You can join in on conversations others are having and get a better understanding of what studying physics beyond school looks like.
Drop in to the live Chat next Tuesday, 16 January, between 12.30pm and 1.30pm.
Get to know the scientists working on nuclear physics research projects at CERN. Across the hour you can ask them questions about themselves, their work or their life at CERN.
You can join in on conversations your peers are having and get a better understanding of why studying physics beyond school might be something for you.
The CMS team have been searching for exotic long-lived particles. Adding a new algorithm to their system for their latest run has increased the results gained from less data.
